The ITIL® Managing Professional Transition (Version 5) is a transition module designed for experienced ITIL professionals who hold the ITIL 4 Managing Professional, ITIL 4 Master, ITIL v3 Expert, or ITIL v3 Master designation. It enables you to quickly and cost-efficiently upgrade to the latest version of ITIL with a single, clear learning path and dual-exam package — without completing all individual modules.

This intensive 5-day training consolidates key concepts from three ITIL (Version 5) modules:

ITIL Product (Version 5) — guidance for organizations involved in the creation and continual improvement of digital products across the digital product and service lifecycle
ITIL Service (Version 5) — how organizations design, build, deliver, support, and continually improve services to create value for stakeholders
ITIL Experience (Version 5) — integrating human experience into the design and delivery of digital products and services, recognizing that how services are perceived, trusted, and engaged with directly influences the value they create

Who is eligible for the Managing Professional Transition?

You must hold one of the following: ITIL 4 Managing Professional, ITIL 4 Master, ITIL v3 Expert, or ITIL v3 Master designation. ITIL 4 Master and ITIL v3 Master holders can use this route to transition to ITIL Master (Version 5). This module is not available to candidates without one of these existing designations.

How many exams are required for ITIL MPT?

Two exams are required. Exam 1 covers Transformation (40 questions, 90 minutes). Exam 2 covers Product, Service, and Experience (60 questions, 120 minutes). Both are open book with a 70% pass mark. Exams can be scheduled separately and taken in any order.

Are the ITIL MPT exams open book?

Yes. For the Transformation exam, you may use the official Transformation eBook and Scenario Booklet. For the Product/Service/Experience exam, you may use the official ITIL Product, Service, and Experience eBooks. Both exams are scenario-based.

What designation do I achieve after passing both exams?

Upon passing both exams, you achieve the ITIL Managing Professional (Version 5) designation.

The Managing Professional Transition is a 5-day intensive training programme covering Product, Service, Experience, Transformation, AI governance, and framework integration.

The course includes four official eBooks: ITIL Product (Version 5), ITIL Service (Version 5), ITIL Experience (Version 5), and ITIL Transformation (Version 5), plus the official Learner Workbook.

Can the exams be taken in any order?

Yes. The two exams can be scheduled separately and taken in any order. Both must be passed to achieve the ITIL Managing Professional (Version 5) designation.

When will the eLearning be available?

You will receive access to the eLearning platform immediately after enrollment.

How long will I have access to the eLearning?

You'll have 12 months of access to the eLearning platform from the date of activation.

Can I upgrade from eLearning to Live Training?

Yes. You can upgrade to the Live Instructor-Led Training anytime by paying the difference in course fees (before your exam voucher is issued).

What if I don't hold ITIL 4 Managing Professional, ITIL 4 Master, ITIL v3 Expert, or ITIL v3 Master?

If you don't meet the prerequisites, you should complete the individual ITIL (Version 5) modules instead: Experience, Product, Service, and Transformation. Start with ITIL Foundation (Version 5) if you haven't already.

Does the certification expire?

All PeopleCert Global Best Practice certifications need to be renewed after 3 years. You can renew by passing any ITIL exam or by collecting CPD points through PeopleCert Plus Membership.
