Designed for today’s AI-enabled, product-centric organizations, ITIL® (Version 5) equips professionals and teams with practical, experience-led skills to create value, strengthen resilience, and improve outcomes at scale.
ITIL evolves — your expertise remains valuable
ITIL® (Version 5) builds on ITIL 4. This is not a reset, but a confident next step forward that respects existing certifications and experience while supporting modern operating models and digital transformation.

Why the new ITIL?

Organizations today operate in a dramatically different digital landscape. AI, automation, and digital-first business models require frameworks that are practical, adaptable, and outcome-focused.

ITIL (Version 5) addresses this reality by:
 • Being AI-native by design – supporting responsible, value-driven adoption of AI across digital products and services
 • Connecting product and service management – aligning strategy, design, delivery, support, and continual improvement
Providing an end-to-end lifecycle view – from discovery and design to operation, experience, and transformation
Offering a simpler, role-oriented qualification scheme – making it easier to choose learning paths aligned with real job roles

If you are already certified in ITIL 4, your knowledge remains fully relevant.

How to Move from ITIL® 4 to ITIL® (Version 5)
As ITIL evolves, many professionals ask a practical question:

The transition has been designed to be clear, structured, and investment-friendly.
All existing ITIL® 4 certifications remain valid and continue to hold value.

Why Consider ITIL® (Version 5)?

 • Translates ITIL® 4 knowledge into practical, role-based capability
 • Supports product-centric and AI-enabled ways of working
 • Strengthens understanding of value streams, experience, and transformation
 • Helps demonstrate applied skills, not just theoretical knowledge

ITIL® (Version 5) is an evolution — not a reset.
For Organizations

 • Connect strategy, delivery, and experience into a coherent operating model
 • Achieve measurable outcomes across products, services, and transformation initiatives

 • ITIL® 4 combined practice-based certifications remain valid

Existing ITIL® 4 combined practice modules — including:

continue to count toward the Practice Manager designation, even as ITIL® (Version 5) is introduced.

There is no requirement to retake these modules.
