What Is PRINCE2 Agile Foundation?

PRINCE2 Agile Foundation (Version 2) is the entry-level certification in the PRINCE2 Agile scheme. It teaches you how agile ways of working fit inside the structure and control of the PRINCE2 project management method, so you can stay responsive to change without losing governance.


The Foundation level focuses on understanding. You learn the agile mindset, the most common agile frameworks and behaviours, and how they blend with PRINCE2 principles, practices, and processes. The goal is practical: to help you contribute confidently on projects that mix structured delivery with agile teams, which is how most organisations actually work today.

PRINCE2 Agile is developed and administered by PeopleCert and is recognised worldwide across industries. As a PeopleCert Accredited Training Organization, AGILEPM HUB delivers this certification through self-paced eLearning and live instructor-led training, both with the official eBook and an exam voucher included.

Within the PRINCE2 qualification scheme, Foundation is the first of two modules that lead to the PRINCE2 Agile Expert designation.

Where Does PRINCE2 Agile Foundation Fit in the PRINCE2 Certification Pathway?

PRINCE2 Agile Foundation sits at the start of the PRINCE2 Agile Expert stream. To reach the PRINCE2 Agile Expert designation, you take two modules in order: PRINCE2 Agile Foundation, then PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner.


There are no prerequisites for Foundation, so you can start here whatever your background. Once certified, you can progress to Practitioner, where you learn to apply and tailor PRINCE2 Agile across projects of different sizes and contexts.

PRINCE2 Agile Expert is one of six designations in the wider PRINCE2 framework, alongside PRINCE2 Project Manager, Programme Manager, Portfolio Manager, Risk Manager, and PMO Manager. Holding all six leads to PRINCE2 Master.

Certification Renewal

All PeopleCert Global Best Practice certifications need to be renewed every 3 years. You have two options to keep your certification current:

Option A — Pass any PRINCE2® exam
  • Taking and passing any PRINCE2® exam before your renewal date extends the validity of all your PRINCE2® certifications for another three years.
Option B — Collect CPD points with PeopleCert Plus Membership
  • With an active PeopleCert Plus subscription, you can renew by logging at least 20 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points per year for 3 consecutive years. PeopleCert Plus also gives you access to industry insights, emerging trends, and best practices to stay current in your field.

What is PRINCE2 Agile Foundation?

Are there any prerequisites for PRINCE2 Agile Foundation?

No. There are no prerequisites. It is a core module suitable for any career stage and is the starting point for the PRINCE2 Agile Expert designation.

What does the exam involve?

The exam is 40 multiple choice questions over 60 minutes. It is closed book, and the pass mark is 60%, which is 26 correct answers. It is taken online with proctoring, and a voucher is included with your course.

What is included when I enrol?

Both formats include the official PRINCE2 Agile Foundation eBook, learner resources, practice exams, and an online proctored exam voucher. eLearning adds around 9 hours of self-paced interactive content with case studies and practical exercises. Live training is a 2-day instructor-led course.

What is the difference between the eLearning and live training options?

eLearning is self-paced and you study on your own schedule. Live instructor-led training is a 2-day course where you learn directly from an accredited trainer and can ask questions in real time. Both lead to the same certification and both include the exam voucher.

Which designation does PRINCE2 Agile Foundation lead to?

Foundation is the first of two modules toward PRINCE2 Agile Expert. After Foundation, you take PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner (Version 2) to complete the designation.

Is the certification accredited?

What is the difference between PRINCE2 Agile and PRINCE2 Project Management?

PRINCE2 Project Management is the structured method for managing projects from start to finish. PRINCE2 Agile builds on that method and shows how to apply agile ways of working within it. If you want governance and control, start with PRINCE2 Project Management. If you want to combine that control with agile delivery, PRINCE2 Agile is the right path.
