What Is ITIL® Product (Version 5)?

ITIL® Product (Version 5) is one of the first advanced modules in the new ITIL (Version 5) certification scheme. It provides comprehensive guidance for organizations involved in the creation and continual improvement of digital products across the entire ITIL Product and Service Lifecycle.

This certification covers how digital products are discovered, designed, acquired, built, transitioned, operated, delivered, and supported. You'll learn to manage digital products as integrated value streams, aligning product capabilities, services, and business outcomes across their full lifecycle.

The course applies human-centred design principles, structured lifecycle management activities with clear roles, outputs, and success factors, and explores how AI, automation, and complementary frameworks like PRINCE2 and DevOps enhance digital product management.

ITIL® Product (Version 5) is designed for professionals who want to develop practical expertise in managing digital products end-to-end — a critical capability as organizations increasingly operate in complex, AI-driven environments where digital products are central to value creation.

This certification is developed and managed by PeopleCert and is recognized by employers worldwide.

Where Does ITIL® Product Fit in the Certification Pathway?
